Who is hiring
The Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre (LMDDC) is an Economic Interest Group (EIG) created by the Ministry of Education, childhood and youth (MENEJ); the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR); and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) with the aim of supporting Luxembourg's digital education, learning and training actors in designing and deploying advanced digital learning technologies. To achieve its mission, it puts together the whole learning and training Luxembourg ecosystem encompassing EdTech providers, Creative Industries and educational content providers, public and private upskilling, reskilling, learning and training organisations, decision-makers and researchers to make design, implementation and deployment of digital learning tools and content a realty for all learners.
The missions of the LMDDC include:

- Proposing, operating, hosting and developing digital platform(s) covering the whole value chain of digital learning and training.

- Designing and producing innovative digital media and advanced content that can be used in the context of digital learning and training.

- Providing strategic and technical advisory services, as well as assistance to support innovation and digital transition of the learning and training ecosystem.

- Performing technological and economic intelligence activities in the field of digital learning in order to anticipate future innovations together with dissemination activities.
To achieve its missions, the LMDDC is setting up an IT platform infrastructure to host and deliver on-line digital learning services, and a Studio delivering full fledge learning media design, prototyping and piloting services as well as hands-on knowledge dissemination workshops.
The Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre is currently building up its core team. For its Platform department, the LMDDC is recruiting a Linux System Administrator to maintain, update and upgrade its IT Platform and Internal services.
Your tasks
Under the supervision of the Platform Manager, the main tasks for this position are the following:

- Constantly work on diverse and challenging new projects in a field that is fast pacing, growing and have a positive impact on the society.

- Deliver a reliable and performant hosting service for our tools, our partners, and customers.

- Create, update, and migrate bare bones and/or virtual machines on our hosting infrastructure.

- Install, configure and update services based on -or contributing to- open-source projects and respectful of standards.

- Monitor our hosting infrastructure.

- Test and challenge our security and backup strategy.

Adapt and improve our services to keep them up-to-date with the current trends.
- Participate to the overall architecture of our network, services, and quality process.

Your experiences
You demonstrate successful experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Linux system administration
-
- Virtualization management
-
- Web infrastructure monitoring
Your skills
In order to carry out the various tasks, the key skills for success are:

- Solid skills in Linux System Administration (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc)

- Knowledge in a Virtualization Environment (Proxmox, VMware, etc)

- Knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, QoS, ufw, iptables, etc)
-
- Knowledge in web hosting (Nginx, Apache, Docker, LXC)
-
- Knowledge of various database systems (Mysql, MariaDB, Postgresql, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch)
-
- Knowledge of scripting is an asset

- Knowledge of programming languages (PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, C#, etc) is an asset
- Knowledge of programming languages (PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, C#, etc) is an asset

Basics of versioning (Git) and continuous integration tools (Gitlab CI) is an asset

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Admission requirements
Diplomas/Experience
You have at least 2 years of experience in one or more equivalent position and/or a Bachelor in the relevant field.
Languages
Fluency in French or German, and English is required. Fluency in Luxembourgish is an asset.
